Te Deum | American Chamber Chorale

The Chorale and Orchestra return to Salem for this outstanding concert. Three graduals by Anton Bruckner will lead beautifully into the melodic Mass in G of Franz Schubert. The astounding Te Deum by modern Estonian composer Arvo Pärt completes the program. The austere beauty of Pärt’s music is something that every music lover simply must experience. After experimenting with Serialism and Twelve Tone techniques, Pärt devloped his own compositional technique he calls, “Tintinnabulation”, referring to the sound of ringing bells. His Te Deum is scored for three choruses, Aeolian (wind) Harp, prepared piano, and strings. The Chorale’s performance of the work will include a multi-media presentation of artwork selected for the music.

To gain a better understanding of Pärt’s Tintinnabulation technique, be sure to attend the pre-concert lecture at 7:00 PM by Stephen Morton.
